Spoon and its challenges

Spoon strives to meet exceptional targets and therefore we continually assess the costs of running all of our events versus the amount that reaches Spoon projects.

Each year we try to gauge how much teams will raise. Since many exceed the minimum targets we set, this is, as you can imagine, an imprecise science. So in addition to forecasting event income, we also try to minimise costs, while still delivering exciting and enjoyable events, so that teams come back year on year to take part.

Spoon's positive approach

We continue to make positive changes to ensure that of the money you raise, the maximum amount possible reaches the people who need it.

  • Last year, we brought onboard new event partners, Kukri, which is supplying the team rugby shirts for the Great Lakeland and Four Peaks challenges.
  • We welcomed Ford, a long time sponsor of the Great Lakeland Challenge, as official vehicle sponsor to all Spoon Challenges.
  • We continue to work as closely as possible with all our challenge sponsors, including Maximuscle, Groupama & Cotswold Outdoors, and are always on the look out for new, non-competing partnerships.
  • Marshals continue to give their time voluntarily and pick up their own travel and accommodation costs.
